Aug.1920 (AAMC.47c) "Velvet Soap" advertising postcard dropped over Melbourne by R. Graham Carey in his Maurice Farman Shorthorn biplane, as depicted on the card. The reverse of the card shows Carey in the cockpit and an aerial view of the soapworks of J. Kitchen & Sons, the manufacturers of Velvet Soap and is signed by the pilot. Excellent condition. AAMC.155-6 & 201) A pair of registered covers, one from Melbourne and the other from Townsville; both addressed to Cairns and both franked at 7½d, with airmail vignettes and endorsements. Both covers with boxed "UNCLAIMED-13FE31-TOWNSVILLE" handstamps and further endorsed in red "Air Service to Townsville discontinued. Service to Cairns not started." Numerous backstamps. (2 items). Queensland Air Navigation Co., was short-lived. In May 1931 QANTAS opened the route to Townsville. (Image)

17 Feb.1934 (NZAMC.81c, AAMC.361a) New Zealand - Australia cover flown by Ulm in "Faith in Australia" with the unique franking of the issued 7d light blue Trans Tasman opt. in combination with the "TRANS - TASMAN FLIGHT / 'FAITH IN AUSTRALIA" overprint essay on the 7d brown-orange, (only 6 were printed). The cover is signed by Ulm, Allan & Boulton. A magnificent exhibition item and a highlight of the Mike Shand collection when offered by us in 2004.

"THE LAST FLIGHT OF THE 'SOUTHERN CROSS'": 18 July 1935 (AAMC.514 & 515) comprising covers numbered '23', '33', and consecutively numbered '36' & '37' each cover bearing a perforated special vignette, all are signed by the seven personnel aboard this historic short Mascot-Richmond flight, namely pilots Charles Kingsford Smith and P.G. 9 April 1937 (AAMC.713) A Brisbane - Darwin flown cover, cancelled on arrival and signed and dated on the back by the pilot, Mrs Delores Bonney. This was the first leg of her epic flight in "My Little Ship II" which eventually took her to Capetown. A very scarce example of the covers carried on these flights which was not created by Bonney's support team. This example, self-addressed to Ernie Crome is believed to be one of only 6 carried for him by Mrs. Bonney. (Image)
