1855 QV Chalon 1d green DIE PROOF with 'VAN DIEMENS LAND' inscription at top only as thin outlined letters (obscured by the lacework design but definitely identifiable when magnified), before it was reworked to solid colourless letters, this being reprint from 2nd 1d master die from which separate dies were then rolled to make the final 1d, 2d & 4d dies, on thin card. Superb fresh UN as made with huge margins. Very rare & attractive. (P)
