LAST DAY OF USE OF THE ½d ROSE-RED - POSTCARD WITH POEM MOURNING THE END OF THE STAMP; Remarkable 31 May 1901 plain court-size PC (light crease and light stains in places) sent locally with ½d Rose-Red (pl.14) tied by fine "ABERLOUR/BANFFSHIRE" cds's; the message (initialled "W.J." - presumably the addressee, "Rev. Walter Jenks", 1863-1935 - see Wikipedia entry) consists of a poem mourning the demise of this ½d stamp that was to be demonetised the next day! Unique?
