1916 (27 Apr) cover sent to an internee (A.E. Deverell) at Tabora, from The East Africa Trading Company, a local firm with which Deverell was associated, with boxed cash franking "Fr. It. Einn. Nachw. in Dar-es-Salaam" handstamp, "7 1/2" by hand. Although no mail sent by civilians interned at the Tabora camp is known to have survived, there are rare examples of letters sent to the internees from friends and former associates elsewhere in the colony, this one with '"Mitellandbahn Bahnpost Zug 5 Deutsch Ostafrika" Railroad cancel and Tabora arrival (28.4.16), fine (Image)

1913 German-English Airship Expedition, 2pf and 1m, set of two, first one l.h., the latter sheet corner margin example n.h., v.f. (In 1913, the three colonial powers began planning for a joint expedition to New Guinea with the purpose of exploring and mapping the interior of the island via airship. The Dutch backed out of the project at its very beginning, with the Germans and English continuing to schedule a planned expedition. The project assembled a joint British-German crew for the airship, with scientists from both countries. The Airship Expedition was scheduled for the second half of 1914, exactly the time when World War I broke out.
