German Areas

image Sale No: 437
Lot No:439
Symbol:*/^
Cat No:Collection

Germany mint collection 1849-2016 in thirteen Lighthouse albums. DDR is best with the country mainly complete in five binders with mostly complete sets many NH. Berlin is loaded , too. Apparently complete mint with all the power to 1990. Weaker German States on clean pages. Fairly sparse Empire collection as the emphasis is on mint sets. Still some power here. Significant Third Reich with Winter Relief Sheet, Ostropa Sheet plus much more. The four volume Germany begins with a mint Posthorn set and progresses unfettered through 2016. Pages incur pencil notations of the owner's cost and purchase place that do not detract from the stamps. Everything is securely mounted in black mounts that seem to have protected them from any damage over the long time it took to acquire these. Wonderful almost complete collection in two heavy cartons ready for a new caretaker. (Image)

Strongest in the DDR with well over 90% coverage in matched Lighthouse albums. Better than average West Germany and Berlin group with many premium items. Also includes horizontal pairs, a few booklet panes and three small stockbooks of duplicates. Along for the ride are the set of 2016 Michel Specialized catalogs and a handful of used Vario pages. Germany extensive Zones collection in five clean sometimes overlapping Albums. All Zones represented with all having power in the Michel only listed varieties. Huge Michel catalog value. Mixed mint and used sometimes parallel across albums. Even a bunch of covers to sweeten the deal. All zones are specialized with the French Zone and Soviet Zone having the most value. The American and British Zones show specialization in the "band and carpet" overprints and the Building Issue. Needs a long careful look to fully appreciate the amount of expense and work it took to get this group into the wonderful condition of completeness it now is. (Image)
