Ephemera: Zeppelin postcards

Germany
Sale No: 7
Lot No:578
Symbol:

Germany. Germany: Graf Zeppelin photographic promotional picture postcard of airship above a field with many people observing, with title "LZ 127 'Graf Zeppelin' in Fahrt." ("in flight"); photographed & published by 'Awuco'/A. Weber & Co., Stuttgart, serial numbered 60448; used but in near-mint condition: copious notes on the back written by Jakob Sohn, Jewish professor of mathematics & physics at Nürnberg (per providence & information from similar pc in previous lot), dated 15-10-1928 and listing times "2330" & "1120... Lakehurst", and apparent mathematics/physics calculations + reference to radio broadcasts ("Radio Vienna"). As per the date & time this would have at the hour of the flight's arrival in Lakehurst, NJ, ending LZ 127's maiden 1st transatlantic flight (which began 11 Oct., from Friedrichshafen). Sohn was not on the flight's passenger list.
