The card was about the navy postal service office in Berlin routed. The consignee was by this time in the Japanese camp Kumamoto interned and the card is therefore with the rarely forwarding cancel "KUMAMOTO" provided, as well violet rectangle cancel "SERVICE of the PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE". The S90 was part of the East Asian cruiser squadron and vindicated along with the gun boat SMS polecat the colony Kiautschou. The commander countersank the boat even close to Tsingtau and resorted be with his crew in war captivity. There are only a few POW cards to the crew have been preserved!

Die Karte wurde über das Marinepostbüro in Berlin geleitet. Der Empfänger war mittlerweile im japanischen Lager Kumamoto interniert und die Karte ist deshalb mit dem seltenen Weiterleitungsstempel "KUMAMOTO" versehen, sowie violettem Rahmenstempel "SERVICE DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE". Die S90 war Teil des ostasiatischen Kreuzergeschwaders und verteidigte zusammen mit dem Kanonenboot SMS Iltis die Kolonie Kiautschou. Der Kommandant versenkte das Boot selbst in der Nähe von Tsingtau und begab sich mit seiner Besatzung in Kriegsgefangenschaft. Es sind nur wenige Kriegsgefangenenkarten an die Besatzung erhalten geblieben! (Image)
