1915 Estonian bank postcard with Russia 1k tied Reval (Talinn) Cyrillic cds on view side, taxed with Russian cachet in red (later crossed out) and 'T' h/s x2, on arrival Melbourne 'PASSED' censor cachet applied alongside previously-unrecorded 'T ½D' oval h/s and Postage Due ½d affixed tied 'WILLAURA/-8AP15/VIC' cds, fine condition. There was no regular use for a '½d' tax cachet as there was no 'farthing' rate for which a double deficiency could be charged. The most likely explanation of its use here is that the view-side franking warranted only single deficiency being charged.
