1890 Conversazione at the Guildhall, invitation ticket with illustration of Rowland Hill and a VR 1d black, numbered "56", unnamed; and 1890 Post Office Christmas cards with illustration of the Guildhall postcard and postmarks and the South Kensington envelope and postmarks, the two versions of the card (with "1890-91" date in black or grey), also the "Bray" forgery. The ticket with very minor soiling but scarce and attractive, one Christmas card with minor edge creasing, otherwise fine. (4).

1911 (Sep 9) Violet London to Windsor postcard with the printed text "Souvenir of the First United Kingdom Aerial Post". With the Compliments of the Founder. This Post Card was carried in the First Bag and on the First Journey from London to Windsor", signed by Walter Windham, addressed to "Hedges Butler Esq., Royal Aero Club, Piccadilly" and redirected to 155 Regent St., a KEVII ½d tied by the London Aerial Post c.d.s code "4". Hedges Butler was the founder of the Royal Aero Club, and had his own printed advert card sent by the 1911 Aerial Post. 1911 (Sep 9) Brown London to Windsor postcard sent to H.E Perrin at the Royal Aero Club, London Aerial Post c.d.s code "1", the reverse with the illustrated advert for F. Hedges Butler, founder of the Royal Aero Club, celebrating ten years since the club's foundation, very fine.

1911 (Sep 9) London to Windsor postcards with adverts printed on the reverse for The Molassine Company (also with red overprint on the front), Remington Typewriter Co., Wright's Coal Tar Soap, and Schweppes Ltd. Also cards handstamped "D.H EVANS & Co" or "BENETFINK & Co LTD, JEWELLERS, CHEAPSIDE, E.C" on reverse. The two store cachet cards with faults, the four printed advert cards all fine. (6).

Brazil. 1911 (Sep 9) Green postcard to Rio de Janeiro bearing two KGV ½d stamps each cancelled by the London Aerial Post c.d.s code 2, a third strike unusually alongside, arrival c.d.s (Oct 2) on the front. Corner and edge creasing, pinhole and tear at upper edge below the left stamp (with old tape stain on reverse and stamp a little stained), still a very reasonable looking card to a scarce destination.

Sweden. 1911 (Sep 9) Red-brown postcard to Sweden franked KGV ½d + 1d pair cancelled by London Aerial Post code 3 datestamps, Goteborg backstamps (Sep 14), light crease at right, otherwise very fine and a scarce destination. Photo on Page 24. (Image1)

1911-48 First flight and flown covers and cards on pages, including 1911 First UK Aerial Post cards (2), 1923 London to Berlin or Amsterdam, 1924 Liverpool to Paris (Apr 1, first day of Imperial Airways), Berlin or Cologne, etc. (15).

1919 (Oct 1) Cover from Newcastle on Tyne to the Orient Line in London franked 1½d + 1/- (2), flown by emergency government air service during the railway strike, backstamped in Newcastle and London (Oct. 2, 3.30pm), flown on October 2nd, the first day mail was flown from Newcastle to London. A little soiling to edge and reverse and small edge tears but scarce and clearly commercial, the majority of surviving flown covers having been sent by philatelists.

1921 (July 5) Printed postcard headed with an aeroplane and "American Express Co Travel Department, Agent for Air Services London - Paris and other Aerial Routes, written while en route by Aeroplane", the card written en route from London to Paris describing the flight; and 1921 (July 7) Six Guinea ticket (in booklet form) for a single flight by Imperial Airways from London to Paris. Also a picture postcard of the Paris to London plane at Bourget Aerodrome. Scarce early aviation ephemera. (3).

1932 (July 19) Cover from Ashford to Buenos Ayres franked 8/- for French air service from Toulouse via Dakar, bearing 6d + Bradbury Wilkinson 2/6 + 5/-, an attractive cover with Toulouse and Buenos Ayres backstamps.

Maltese Crosses - Greenock. 1842-43 1d Pink envelope and an entire bearing a 1d red (just four margins), and single 1d reds (4, faults) all cancelled by the Greenock distinctive Maltese Cross. (6).

QV Covers and cards, pieces and stamps, various cancels including numerals and duplexs, squared circles, London offices, etc. (1000s).

QV Cancels on stamps, the large accumulation including 1d reds with Brunswick Stars, Scots Locals, a few coloured cancels, "POR / SC" stars (2, faults), 1862 International Exhibition duplex on piece, a few railway station telegraphic numerals, and many 1d lilacs or ½d orange stamps with c.d.s, duplex or squared circle cancels, some on pieces. Also 1855 1d red on entire with fine "331" Irish numeral cancel of Moate in blue. (100s).

Triangular Cancels. QV-QEII Covers and cards (134) and pieces (100s) all cancelled by triangular handstamps or machines with triangular dies containing the office numbers or telegraphic code. (100s).

1886-2010 Covers and cards including 1886 cover with Royal & Indian Exhibition Royal Commission crest, 1891 "Eddystone Lighthouse" Royal Naval Exhibition postcard unused, 1911 "Royal Commission, Paris Exhibition 1900, Irish Committee" O.H.M.S envelope with the franking cachet sent Official Paid from Dublin, and various exhibition or special event cancels, also 1966 ticket for the World Cup Final at Wembley. 1890-1956 Covers and cards including 1891 Royal Naval Exhibition Eddystone Lighthouse cancel on a postally used cover franked 1d, 1901 Glasgow Exhibition c.d.s on cards franked 1d (2) and a cover franked 2½d all to Scandinavia, etc., also 1911 Aerial Post cover and card with the London Aerial Post c.d.s. (22).

1844 Entire letter (first page missing) franked 1d from Halifax to Sheffield endorsed "Important, Special Delivery will be paid for", the letter stating "I have endorsed this letter in the hope you may get it a little sooner. Any expense incurred in a more early delivery shall be remitted in postage stamps"; and 1919-63 covers (32) or pieces from parcels (2) all sent by Express delivery. (35).

1669-1736 Entire letters (3) and entires (2) all sent free, with 1699 letter from Robert Montgomery (C. in C. of the army in Scotland) to "The Earl of Lauderdaille, Lord Secretarie to His Majestie for the Kingdome of Scotland"; 1720 letter from London "To Sr Roger Hill, Member of Parliament at Denham Place, to be left at ye post house in Uxbridge till called for, Middx", reporting the death of the heiress Mrs Oldfield who died worth £40,000, and reports of sickness brought into the Isle of Man with Sir Hans Sloan asked on how to prevent it spreading; also entires from London (2) or Cockburnspath to Edinburgh, two endorsed "free". (5).

1765-87 Entire letters (9), entires (2) and fronts (4) all with red circular framed "FREE" handstamps of London, various sizes, including the first type with larger F (Jay 765), mainly fine, some town handstamps. (15).

1791-99 Entire letters (7), entires (2) and fronts (9) with red London Free datestamps, single and double ring types, also fronts with 1799 experimental types Jay 786 or Jay 788 (2), mainly fine. (18).

1795-1835 Letters from Downing St., Dublin Castle or various government departments, to the Postmaster General, requesting authority for newly appointed government officials to frank letters, all from the papers of Francis Freeling. (12).

1807-38 Letters to Francis Freeling concerning changes of address for M.Ps (4), the election of new M.Ps (2), complaints about postage being charged on letters to M.Ps (7), etc. (15).

1815-39 Entire letters (12), entires (12) and envelopes (6, all very early, one with enclosed letter), all with crowned London Free datestamps in red, single and double ring types, one letter on mourning notepaper, printed glass manufactures bill, printed letter on duties on goods carried by British and Foreign ships, etc., one with "Add / ½" handstamp deleted.
