1 Mk. Goethe, phase print of the not yet finished original engraving in black with frame embossing of the original plate. By this copy from unfinished engraving are the upper and the lower scroll and the detail elaboration of the lapel, the shoulder and of the right column still non-completed. The clear frame embossing of the original plate has a vertical offset blind embossing of the inner frame and a paper break in the lower print edge. It can no longer be determined today, whether this edge breakage has already occurred during production. The proof is otherwise in excellent condition without any signs of ageing, as is often the case with the thin paper. The proof shows on the front the signature from "OUVRÉ" on. 1 Mk. Goethe, Phasendruck des noch nicht vollendeten Urstiches in schwarz mit Rahmenprägung der Originalplatte. Bei diesem Abzug vom unfertigen Stich sind das obere und das untere Schriftband und die Detail-Ausarbeitungen des Revers, der Schulter und der rechten Säule noch nicht vollendet. Die deutliche Rahmenprägung der Originalplatte weist zum einen eine vertikal versetzte Blindprägung des inneren Rahmens und einen Papierbruch in der unteren Druckkante auf. Es lässt sich heute nicht mehr feststellen, ob dieser Kantenbruch bereits bei der Herstellung entstanden ist. Der Probeabzug weist ansonsten eine vorzügliche Erhaltung ohne jegliche Alterungsspuren auf, wie sie bei dem dünnen Papier sonst häufig zu beobachten ist. Der Probedruck weist vorderseitig die Signatur von "OUVRÉ" auf. Es sind nur zwei weitere Abzüge dieses Phasendruckes bekannt geworden. Im Michel nicht verzeichnet. Fotoattest Straub BPP. (Image)
