A magnificent display of 11 journals and attractive printed items bearing the 19th century newspaper stamps, as well as regular postage frankings, with detailed write-up on exhibition pages, starting with the 1860s issues typographically canceled on newspapers including the 19/12/1868 Revue de Cannes with the imperf 2c blue (Yvert #2), 3/9/1870 ‘Moniteur Vinicole’ with the perf 2c rose, followed by a wonderful range of religious journals/pamphlets inc. complete ‘Messager du Coeur de Jesus’, November 1870, with intact pink cover and wrapper with 5c Napoleon, 1873 ‘Annales de Notre-Dame’ illustrated with Madonna and child franked by 2c Ceres, then the 1c Ceres typographically canceled on June 1874 pamphlet, the October 1890 ‘Semaine Catholique’ with the ears of wheat of the ornamental border cancelling 1c peace and commerce, etc. (Image)
