Confederate States, 1862, 2¢ green (Scott 3), horizontal pair and strip of 3, tied by partial to faint Knoxville, Tenn. c.d.s.'s, Jul 4, 1862 on a homemade cover to Lawrenceville, Ga.; the pair, which is the "left top-knot" variety (position 31R), is just in at the right, the strip just touching to in at the bottom, cover with small flaws, Fine to Very Fine, a reasonably nice example of this rare 10¢ franking.

Confederate States, 1863, 10¢ blue, "T-E-N" (Scott 9), three large margins and barely shaved at the bottom, canceled with a single pen stroke beside a matching manuscript "Flint Hill, Jn 25" postmark on an 1863 folded letter - datelined Orleans - Richmond; nearly separated in half at bottom fold (repaired), otherwise fresh and Very Fine; the letter is addressed to "The Secretary of the Comd of Va" and requests salt for the people of Fauquier County (Orleans is in Fauquier County, Flint Hill in Culpeper County).
