New South Wales: 1857 entire letter from Sydney to England endorsed 'Per Overland Mail' franked by 6d greenish grey (touching to good margins) tied by barred obliterator with crisp London mark for DE 7 in red carried by ''S.S. Emeu'' which foundered in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Guttal el Bunna coral reef, in the Red Sea; backstamped with Sydney New South Wales d/s for SE 8 and Chipping Norton arrival for DE 7, very fine. ? ? After ''S.S. Emeu'' was stranded the mails were transferred to the ''S.S. Madras'' which carried them to Suez and carried overland to Alexandria before being loaded onto the ''P&O Ripon'' calling at Malta before arriving in Southampton on December 6th. (Image)

New South Wales: 1862 envelope from Wee Waa, New South Wales to England, cancelled Wee Waa for OC 16, carried by firstly by the ''S.S. Bombay'' to Ceylon before being transferred to the ''S.S. Colombo'' which foundered on Minicoy Island (Indian Ocean) superbly struck by ''Saved from the Wreck of the Colombo'' framed h/s, with London arrival at foot for JA 3 1863, backstamped by N.S.W. markings and London arrival, opened for display, still fine and scarce.
