1911 (11 NO) grey paper piece, struck in black with, "Paid at SOUTH GEORGIA" handstamp with manuscript "1d" and initials "EBB" for postmaster Edward B. Binnie, overstruck in conjunction with South Georgia, Heijtz SG1 d/r cds. Postmaster Binnie was forced to employ the handstamp from 18th October 1911 to 12th January 1912 during the visit of the ship Deutschland, the 35-man crew soon exhausting the limited supply of 1d and 2½d stamps.
