Strength in Bristol/Gloucestershire, south-east England, Isle of Wight, Dorset and Devon. GENERAL TRANSPORT STRIKE 1911 etc: Small group of postcards, four showing scenes of food convoys with military escorts in the Lawley Street area of Birmingham during the General Transport Strike of 1911. Also one depicting the first successful flight from London to Bournville by Mr Graham White. Photocopies of contemporary newspaper reports provide useful context. OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY, 1870-2000: Four binders with the outstanding collection of used & unused postcards, covers and other ephemera relating to the world famous Passion Play. Well written up and presented, includes a range of studio portrait photo cards dated 1870, a series of illustrated Postal Stationery cards produced for the 1900 play, then an extensive series of PPCs (some signed) through to the present century. The lot includes ephemera such as Notgeld, programmes, advertising & travel related material, etc. We note an attractive cover bearing the 1949 West Germany Stamp Centenary set cancelled by the special 1950 Oberammergau pictorial h/s. WWI PERIOD SEASONAL GREETING AND PATRIOTIC SILKS: Inc. some cards from c.1920-1930s. Regiments include: Royal Flying Corps, Machine Gun Corps, Prince Albert's Somerset Light Infantry & the Royal Horse Artillery. Several include the 'secret' front pocket and one contains a miniature red Ensign in silk. All are VF condition with some having a handwritten message.
