Superlative collection, 1882-1949, remarkably fresh and clean, exquisitely presented on fully annotated homemade quadrille pages housed in a slipcased red Lighthouse binder (marked Hong Kong); starting with Large Dragons #1-3 and 4-6, the selection here boasts duplicated Small Dragons showing varieties in paper and color, a nice array of overprinted Dowagers in various settings, a mint 1898 C.I.P. Coiling Dragons set complete less the elusive $2, a grand 1902-03 Dragons set, with the 10¢ through $5 present, a couple inverted "Republic" overprints, a complete First London Printing of the Junk series whose $5 is superbly centered and $10 nearly perfectly so, 1931 Sun Yat-sen London Print high values (Scott #294-296) never hinged, extensive Sun Yat-sen and Martyrs (displaying different prints, dies, overprints, papers, etc., including a block of nine #446 showing the "fen-fen" error, center stamp), CNCs apparently complete, Golds missing two Hankow high values, solid Silvers including a color variation on #988, Airs complete less #C42, plus Registrations, Dues, Military Stamps and North East Provinces; virtually complete from 1922 onwards, with most mint from the same period; 19th-century cancels include seal, Pakua, Small Customs and Large Dollars; a few condition issues (mostly affecting gum) found here or there, but uncommonly fresh given the commonality of the faults normally encountered; overall a stunning collection on which to build, or to break for retail, Fine to Very Fine with much better throughout, a careful examination will be rewarded.

Compelling collection, 1865-1949, housed in an Yvert & Tellier album, with all items (whether mint or used) in mounts; generally fresh and clean, and offering a wider range of material than often found in a collection such as this; China proper begins with a smattering of Dowagers (without and with overprints); a pretty I.C.P. Coiling Dragons set complete, the 50¢ to $2 values used, the others mint/unused (the $5 with a corner fault, but still a tough stamp—and this one's beautifully centered); a mostly used C.I.P. Coiling Dragons set, unwatermarked; a duplicated host of Waterlow "Republic" overprints, including single copies of the $1 and $2; nice Junks with duplication, plus a 13¢ Reaper with "SPECIMEN" overprint; commemoratives from the 1920s and 1930s appear complete, and there are enough Dr. Sun's to brighten any day, plus wide-ranging overprints on Sun Yat-sen and Martyrs; Airs (including Scott #C6-C10 never hinged), Dues, Provinces going back to the Junks, and up to and including Japanese Occupations, etc., etc.; the uncommon includes Foreign Offices (France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan and Russia), Shanghai Local Post issues (including three Large Dragons), and a set of 1911 Tibet overprints to the $1 value mint. Generally fresh and sound, Fine to Very Fine with much better, take the time to review.
