China, 1949 (Dec.), cover from the U.S. Consulate, Tihwa to USA, legal size envelope showing "The Foreign Service of the United States of America" corner card with "American Consulate Tihwa" typed below Addressed to Danville, Virginia; cover is franked by $5,000,000 ultramarine SYS Plum Blossom Issue (Scott 799), with 8 examples on front & a block of 24 on reverse, along with $300,000 & $200,000 Plum Blossom singles, as well as a single of 41 on 40c Gold Yuan, all cancelled and tied by Tihwa c.d.s.s.; reverse shows Shanghai transit, violet S.F. 10 Jan 49 transit & violet Danville 12 JAN receiver, a lovely combination, Fine to Very Fine.

China, China National Aviation Corporation First Flights Collection, 1929-41, a magnificent 3-part collection consisting of 59 covers, each fully and richly annotated (with Starr-Mills number and census where available) on its own Lindner Hingeless album page; 2 sections outline CNAC's flights between 1929 and 1939, while the third compiles "Flights within and out of Southern China after 1936"; a wealth of commemorative covers (many beautifully illustrated) and cancels, Registered covers, a few with "Delayed" handstamp notations, several signed by the pilot, etc.; frankings include Junks and Reapers, Sun Yat-Sen and Martyrs, Sun Yat-Sen Mausoleum, Airmails of course, even one 1933 cover with a 1912 3¢ Sun Yat-Sen (Scott #180)! a broad range of origins and destinations, including Rangoon and Hanoi; Southwest Aviation Corporation covers, Imperial Airways covers (including the first Hong Kong-to-London All Up cover), and two covers for CNAC's 1941 Chungking to Calcutta First Flight (and return), Very Fine, a supreme collection of flawless covers; inspection invited, in person or on our website where it is imaged in full.

China, Electrifying Eurasia Aviation Corporation First Flights collection, 1931-39, 22 covers on as many Lindner Hingeless pages, mounted, fully annotated and exhibit-ready; starting with commemorative covers to mark the establishment of the company in 1931 (two; Starr-Mills #40) and the first Manchouli-Shanghai flight (Starr-Mills #41), through a Kunming-Liuchow-Hong Kong cover (June 14, 1938), with a broad range of First Flights, Trial Flights, new routes, route extensions, return flights, round-trip, sectional legs, etc., etc., in between, including an incredibly scarce Starr-Mills #53 (1932 Shanghai-Tihwa cover, of which only 15 were flown); each cover is crisp and clean with nary any sign of soiling; cancels are sharp; we even note two covers addressed to S.J. Mills himself, Very Fine+, a remarkable collection lovingly built; imaged in full on our website—be sure to view.

China, Fabulous aerogramme correspondence spanning 3 currency changes, 1948-49, wonderful and fascinating group of 30 Aerograms all but a couple basically a correspondence between 3 family members beginning on 24 April, 1948 until 20 May 1949; includes a remarkable range and variety of frankings, beginning with approximately 6 CNC franked items, transiting to the Gold Yuan, where approximately 22 excellent examples are offered, and finishing with 2 Silver Yuan Aerograms, the first of which is used on 28 April, with the first paragraph noting that 55,000 y now equals 10¢, mostly Fine to Very Fine, wonderful study group, nice lot.
