Vancouver Island 1866 (February) Envelope franked with a wing margined 2½p dull rose, perf 14 provisionally used from Victoria as 5 cents postage, cancelled on arrival with New Westminster / Post Office / British Columbia double oval handstamp (R. Lowe HS-8), docketing "Recd 22 Feb / 66" at left; overall light soiling to cover. An unusual and elusive usage of the 2½p stamp from Victoria - the 3p light blue was only issued months later in November 1865 on the Mainland and the 5 cent rose and 10c blue issued on Vancouver Island in September 1865, a Fine and rare cover.
