1933 (27 July) Jimmy Mattern round the world flight, Edmonton to New York sector, mixed franking with 1c USA, pilot signed "Jimmie Mattern", with arrival pmk, very rare, signed I. Heiman (On June 3, 1933, Jimmy Mattern, with permission to fly over Europe and Russia, attempted to circle the globe. He landed in Jomfruland, Norway 48 hours later. Next stop was Moscow and then to Khabarovsk. On June 14th, he took off for Nome, Alaska, and after crashing in Siberia, was rescued by the Russian pilot Levanevsky. For this reason the mail clerk affixed a rubber stamp reading as follows: For Letters Affranchisement Percu Rm.6- and for cards Affranchisement Percu Rm.4.- .
