Collection of Alberta Territorial Postmarks on Stamps, with 106 stamps in all, ranging from 1c to 8c Small Queens, plus 2c Map stamps, Numerals and Leafs, as well as Jubilees, with mostly singles and pairs. There is a very good variety of different towns represented here, either by broken circles or c.d.s., plus at least one roller, and there are too many to list, but we have scanned all pages online. A better than usual collection of these, with many socked on the nose and difficult to find towns. (Image)

Group of 29 Alberta Territorial Covers and Cards, 1885 to 1905, with a good representation of different towns such as Leduc, Didsbury, Fort Saskatchewan, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat (ASSA), Millarville, Pine Lake, Raymond, Red Deer (squared circle), Wetaskiwin, Duhamel (receiver), Fort McLeod, Lacombe, Olds and Edwell. All but three are despatch strikes and there are several items with faults, including one front, one 3c SQ cover with stamp not belonging, etc. still many fine to very fine and some scarce town cancels. Bill Robinson's Northern Alberta R.P.O. Single Frame Exhibit, still intact, and includes many additional pages of items, not originally exhibited. We counted a total of 29 covers or cards, plus another 123 stamps or facing slips (pairs, strips, counted as one). The railway post offices noted are Edmonton & Dawson, McLennan & Hines Creek, Edmonton & Spirit River, Edmonton & Wembley, plus a number of clerk cancels, etc. Many items are marked as ERD or LRD and some are even marked as unique. A lovely collection with many rarities, difficult to assemble and overall fine to very fine. Accompanied by some articles / newspaper clippings on the subject. All 38 pages are scanned online. All neatly displayed in stock page, and housed in one binder. We noted a great variety of types throughout, starting with SQs, Numerals, blocks of Edwards and Admirals, #458xxi (5c Centennial) a full sheet of 100 (c.v. $55), matched sets of Caricatures, flower definitives, #781ii full sheet of 100 stamps (c.v. $1,000) as well as right and left warning strips of 20 (c.v. $400+), 705iii full sheet of 100 stamps (c.v.$300), and so on. Group of Four Forgeries, starting with a #QU3, the so-called "Bootlegger's Forgery" lithographed 15c Québec Unemployment revenue, rouletted and ungummed, very fine (van Dam cat. $150). Also two different 6c on 5c Airmail surcharge forgeries (Scott #C3a/b) with a double surcharge with "FORGERY / ANDRE FRODEL" handstamps on back and an inverted/double surcharge with "FORGERY" handstamp on back, possibly attributed to "Harris" McMaster and/or Frodel and/or Eaton (this one ex Walske). Lastly we have a fake #O6 inverted O.H.M.S. official overprint on a used stamp (with "forgery" in pen on back), with a normal mint stamp to compare (no inverted genuine stamps are known). The lot is accompanied by a many page article by Kenneth Pugh on the forgeries of Andre Frodel, as well as other forgery documentation including a list of items said by Fred Eaton's son Dan of items that were produced by Frodel. Group of Over 800 Complete Booklets, 1982 to 2006, with up to ten (or more) of some issues. There is very high catalogue value here with items from the first Maple Leaf issue through Christmas of 2006. Of note are many definitive booklets with alternate advertising messages on their backs, a group of Mammals definitive booklets (Unitrade $174) and the 1989 Christmas booklets (Unitrade $219) plus the desirable perf change on BK111A (x7, Unitrade $350). The total face value of this collection is more than $3,800. "P" stamps alone account for approximately 10% of the total face value (at 92c per stamp). See the photos online for an overview of the contents of this clean and very fine lot, which would help a collector fill many modern gaps.
