Canada: Covers and Cancellations: Western Canada: Selection of Saskatoon, Alberta, Keewatin postmarks on seven Small Queen covers, comprising Prince Albert, Sask on registered cover; Battleford, Sask (2) to England; Calgary, Alta to England; Edmonton, Alta arrival marking; Fort McLeod, Alta; Rat Portage, Kee arrival marking, some cover faults but markings mainly clear.

Canada: Registered Mail: Registered mail prior to issue of registration stamps: A collection of 26 covers (two being fronts only) sent largely within Canada between 1863 and 1892, most before 1876, incl. three stampless paid covers, the others chiefly franked by Small Queens with a good range of combinations and rates, the later post 1876 items with Small Queens only despite the availability of, and instruction to use, the registration stamps.

Canada: Registered Mail: Registration Stamps, 1875-92 2c.: Collection of 39 covers (six being fronts only) from 1876 to 1899, chiefly franked by Small Queens in combination with registration 2c., with single, double treble and other multiple rates within Canada, some to U.S.A., also 1876 cover with registration 2c. only (postage paid in cash), 1889 drop letter within London, Ont. bearing Small Queen 1c. and registration 2c., 1889 covers (2) with two registration 2c. in combination with Small Queen 1c. and 3c. and later 1899 from Digby, N.S. to New York with registration 2c. (3) and Maple Leaves 1c., condition varies.

Canada: Registered Mail: Registration Stamps, 1875-92 2c.: 1876 early use, (Jan. 17) one of the earliest known usages on cover from Bobcayceon to Toronto with registration 2c. and Small Queen 3c. Canada: 1785 entire ship letter to London sent Nov. 7 from fur traders Gregory, MacLeod & Co. in Montreal with light two line “Montreal/Nov 7”, paid “9” in red to Quebec with “10/NO” double-circle, showing straight line “PAID” and “SHIP-LRE”, endorsed “p. the Susannah” and taken from landfall at Ilfracombe by mailcoach with “24/DE” receiving Bishopmark, rated “1/1” for 2 x 6d. carriage over 150 miles and 1d. ship fee, rare combination of scarce markings. Quebec-Montreal rate + 21/2d. ship fee, the second sent June 28 and carried on the “Matilda” to New York with receiving c.d.s., straight line “PAID” (2) and “SHIP”, charged “9” and “30” (c.) to border incl. 50% War of 1812 surcharges.
