1897 ½c black Small Queen Misperforated on Cover, mailed at Parkdale branch (Toronto) on JUL.25.1897 and addressed to Skive, Denmark (receiver on back AUG.6.1897). Cover is franked with 10 stamps, in the form of two horizontal strips, paying the 5c rate. Several stamps in each strip are vertically misperforated by at least 4mm to the right creating a stunning visual variety. (Image)

½c Small Queen Precancelled Pair on Cover, mailed by a stamp dealer in London Ontario and addressed to Riverton, NJ at the 1c Circular rate. Franked with a vertical pair of the ½c SQ precanceled with a London roller. Ex. Fred Stulberg, and accompanied by his write-up explaining that London was the only place to have precanceled the ½c SQ. Partly professionally re-backed, with tiny tear at top left, else very fine and a scarce usage. (Image)

1894 ½c Small Queen Single Franking on Periodical. La Semaine Religieuse de Québec complete issue is dated MAR.10.1864 (volume VI #28) and franked at the periodical rate (½c SQ is tied by target cancel) to Villeurbanne, France. Interesting advertising on back cover for Ernest Girardot Wines of Sandwich, Essex County who were approved by Cardinal Taschereau and other bishops to produce ceremonial wine. Page separations, else very fine. (Image)

Collector's count ½c x133, 1c x315, 2c x196, 3c x786, 5c (mostly #42) x312, 6c (half and half) x107, 8c (many early shades) x129, 10c (22 are Montreal) x61, 20c x10 and 50c x16. We are particularity struck by the shade varieties as well as the many different cancellations including a 2-ring #10 (scarce). Includes early printings of the Small Queen and a page of 20th century extras. Inspection should be rewarding. (Image)

1875 2c and 3c Small Queens on Registered Advertizing Railway Cover, mailed at Welland, Ont. on MAR.4.1875 and addressed to Caledonia. Back of cover shows three strikes of the "REGISTERED WELLAND-R" boxed cancel, a large double circle WELLAND RAIL ROAD datestamp and a Seneca transit. There is a large oval advertising printed on back, from Van Wyck & Johnson, lumber wholesalers and retailers of Welland. Stamps a little grubby, else a very fine cover with scarce markings. (Image)

1870 3c Indian red Small Queen, perf 12½ , used on registered cover along with 2c green Large Queen, paying the registered domestic letter rate from Truro, N.S. MA.28.1870 to Acadia Mines from the Jessie Hoyt correspondence. The stamps are cancelled by an indistinct strike of the 2-ring #54 numeral, the 3c has defective perfs at right and the 2c Large Queen has a crease from having been affixed over the edge of the cover. Overall still fine and a key Small Queen item as only 6 covers are known showing the 3c perf 12½ used in combination with other stamps. Ex-John Keenlyside collection and accompanied by 2002 RPSL certificate stating that both stamps have been lifted and reaffixed. (Image)
