Two engraved COMPOSITE DIE ESSAYS in BLACK, each with Canada Bank Note Engraving & Printing Co. ESSAYS printed se-tenant on India paper, the first consists of the 1¢ and 3¢ finished designs (58 x 30mm) with manuscript ‘19’ at top, the other with the 5¢, 10¢ and 15¢ higher-denomination designs (84 x 29mm, never produced in plate format), both are mounted on greyish cloth-reinforced paper (86 x 76mm) excised from the British American Bank Note Co.
