1859 1c rose Queen Victoria, a used horizontal strip of three, cancelled with two strikes of an unusual oval intaglio monogram. The stamps are interestingly misaligned, easily seen when looking at the top frames, which stagger down with each stamp. An interesting strip. (Image)

1859 5c vermilion Beaver with Major Re-Entry on Cover, mailed from Québec on JUL.18.1867 to Brockville. The re-entry is from position 28 and is regarded as being the earliest known date for this major re-entry. The cover and stamps have faults, still rare and accompanied by a long two sided 1993 letter from Whitworth explaining this cover and all that pertains to the printing of these stamps, etc. An interesting lot for the specialist. 1859 5c vermilion Beaver with "Split Beaver" Variety on Cover, a very clearly visible example of this interesting variety (from position 90), on an orange cover to Toronto (receiver on back), stamp is tied by a London duplex dated SEP.30.1863. Whitworth lists the earliest date for this variety as being OCT.24.1863, and so this is a new earliest known date for it. Opening faults at top do not detract, fine and accompanied by a 2017 Greene Foundation certificate. Rsv. (Image)

1859 10c black brown Consort, Perforated 11¾, a used single from the first printing (order 1A), with ideal light cancel and very pleasing centering for this difficult issue. This stamp possesses rich colour and a crisp impression, plus an unlisted re-entry, purported to be from plate position 46 (doubling of top frameline). Corner crease at top left, ending in a small tear at top, still a very fine appearing stamp. Accompanied by a 2009 Greene Foundation certificate. (Image)

1859 10c chocolate brown Consort on Cover, mailed from Lyn UC (SEP.5.1859) double broken circle) to Jericho, Long Island, New York. The stamp (with tiny tear at left) is tied to this yellow cover by a large "MONT & KINGS. GD. TRK. R. W. POST OFFICE No. 2." cds (Ludlow type 5C, RF 475) dated same day as despatch, with additional complete strike on back. Back also has a transit Prescott datestamp dated SEP.5. Front shows a red "Ogdensburg NY 10 Paid" datestamp dated SEP.7 and a "CANADA" in arc. A lovely cover, slightly reduced at top right, and with stain on front and accompanied by a 2018 Greene Foundation certificate stating that the stamp is "misperforated at top and bottom". (Image)

1859 10c Cross Border Cover, mailed from Gananoque on JUN.2.1864 (double broken circle) to Detroit Michigan, with a blue receiver on front, dated two days later (receivers on US bound mail are scarce). Franked with a 10c brown Consort single, paying the proper cross-border rate. A lovely cover, apparently mailed by Clara Atkinson to her husband, Dr. Edward Lewis Atkinson, a famous Gananoque doctor and later businessman and founder of the St. Lawrence Steel & Wire Co. Small bit of backflap missing, still very fine. (Image)
