1859 5c vermilion Beaver, mint never hinged with full original gum. Originally a top quality fine pair with fresh colour, this is the bottom stamp from the illustrated vertical pair. This pair was in an old collection which was in the consignor's family since the late 1890s. The left side of this pair had to be cut with scissors long ago, because a large part of the perforations on that side did not cut completely through the paper resulting in blind perfs that can be seen from gum side. A top quality stamp, light gum bend mentioned for the record. This is a particularly fresh stamp which has not been on the philatelic market since the early 1890s. (Image)
