1820 Folded Letter Charlotte Town to London, double rated cover (originally enclosed an add'l insurance document) rated "4/4" (correct combination of BNA, Packet and English inland postage) which was subsequently "crossed out" and re-rated at the triple rate of "6/6" as the incoming clerk probably thought it to contain three sheets - opening verified only two sheets and the cover was again rated "4/4" in red, light black Prince Edward Island AUG 1 1820 cds and partial Halifax transit cancel, a Fine use (Image)

1855 Unfranked Cover to England and Forwarded to France, folded letter sheet with myriad of ratings and postmarks which essentially boil down to an unpaid letter charged 6d for UK packet rate and sent on to Paris as unpaid mail, the "8" indicating -+oz rate England to France and "16" decimes due being the double rate for unpaid mail to France instituted in 1855, typical wear for a well-travelled cover, Fine (Image)

ISLAND / MAY 7 / 2" Local Rate Postage Due handstamp on back of a portion of an incoming folded letter with ms "circular" from St John's Nfld, the item was prepaid "4' representing the port-port rate for St Johns to Charlottetown, the 2d represented the unpaid internal rate to Summerside, front side with a small internal break, still Fine and purportedly the only recorded example of this "2" handstamp (Image)
