1855 Unfranked Cover to England and Forwarded to France, folded letter sheet with myriad of ratings and postmarks which essentially boil down to an unpaid letter charged 6d for UK packet rate and sent on to Paris as unpaid mail, the "8" indicating ½oz rate England to France and "16" decimes due being the double rate for unpaid mail to France instituted in 1855, typical wear for a well-travelled cover, Fine (Image)

ISLAND / MAY 7 / 2"" Local Rate Postage Due handstamp on back of a portion of an incoming folded letter with ms ""circular"" from St John''s Nfld, the item was prepaid ""4'' representing the port-port rate for St Johns to Charlottetown, the 2d represented the unpaid internal rate to Summerside, front side with a small internal break, still Fine and purportedly the only recorded example of this ""2"" handstamp"' (Image)
