Group of Four Covers with 2 and 4-Ring Numerals, an illustrated advertising cover from Saint John NB with 2-ring #7 (small hole in centre of cover and light overall soiling), a cross-border folded circular from Toronto, with 2-ring #2 (struck through silk) with dated corner card handstamp (JUN.3.1869 with tear on back), a folded circular mailed from Montreal with a 2-ring #1 (manuscript dated APR.16.1869, with vertical crease) and an oversize cover mailed from St François de Beauce LC (MAR.31.1858) to Québec, originally rated "3", obliterated with a 4-ring #37, then re-rated "6" (crease, tears on back). Lovely Collection of 4-Ring Numeral Cancels on Cents, Large Queens and Small Queens, all displayed more or less in order of number on four quadrille pages (all scanned online) with a good variety of different numbers on different stamps. We counted 54 First Cents issues, 5 Large Queens and 5 Small Queens with a better than average quality of strikes, and all numbers are easily identifiable. A very nice lot for the collector who seeks quality strikes and stamps (a few stamps may have faults). Unchecked by us for better numbers. (Image)
