QUEENSTON AU 8 1836 double ring hs in green. /9 cy due BNA rate (incl 2d ferriage and 7d BNA postage 60-100 miles around L Ontario). No receiver, torn part of letter, otherwise fine. Ex Palmer. TORONTO UC AP 11 1844 double split circle, rated PAID hs in black and ms 4½ in red (single rate under 60 miles across L Ontario to Queenston exchange. Paid struck through and ms 25 due in blue (cents rate onward US charge to New York, over 400 miles). No Lewiston markings. BNA rate now by weight from 5th January 1844. TORONTO CW OCT 12, yearless large full circle (used 1855/58), rated CANADA 10 Cts hs in black (conversion of 6d cy rate to US destinations). From 5th April 1851 to 30 June 1859 all through rate between Canada and the United States was 6d cy or 10 cents per half ounce. Mounting adhesions on back. (Image)
