OX4(3): Cover originally sent from GERMANY, bearing two copies of the 3pf black brown Germania (Scott #81), both tied by a Hannover 8.8.14 dated continuous roller and sent to '64 Henry St, St Chatrein, Ontario, Canada, North America' (Mail service had not yet been suspended, as Britain had only declared war 4 days earlier). Undeliverable as addressed (city was improperly spelled and overall sloppy penmanship), it was sent to the Ottawa Dead Letter Office for directory service (received there 16 SP '14) and opened to determine the proper address which was found to be 'St Catharines, Ont (written in pencil on front), then RE-SEALED at the bottom with three1913 black brown OFFICIALLY SEALED labels and forwarded to destination. Cover is split and re-inforced at bottom with a few edge/stamp faults, etc but is a very rare and attractive proper usage of multiple copies of this RARE RE-SEALING LABEL on a FOREIGN COVER TO CANADA, one of only two we have seen.
