Stock Page of Forgeries, with 5 different Cents issues which were cleverly created using Bartlett letterhead images, printed on gummed stamp paper and perforated. Also a group of 10 stamps created by Senf, each with a curved SPECIMEN overprint in red, which were later sold by Fournier, and lastly we note two Spiro forgeries, one of the 1d imperforate and one of the 1c perforated (these two with "postmarks"). Collection of Nova Scotia 5c Frankings, with 7 covers or folded letters, 6 of which were used after Confederation. We note 5 single frankings and two double frankings, a nice JUL.23.1867 Halifax embossed advertising cover for a dealer of crockery and glasswares, a 5c franking from Halifax to Cape Breton mailed in June 1868 with handstamp "5" indicating more to pay, One of the three remaining 5c single frankings is addressed to Toronto then redirected. A double franked cover mailed from Lawrence Town (FEB.24.1868) to Bridgetown, and finally an 1865 folded cover franked with a pair of 5c to Newfoundland (St John's JAN.25.1865 receiver). Mixed condition, still overall fine and an interesting group showing examples of acceptance of NS stamps after Confederation. All are scanned online. (Image)

1861 Nova Scotia to Newfoundland rate Cover, mailed at the scarce 13½c rate (1c and 12½c, both tied by oval grids) from Wallace NS on JAN.22.1861, went through Halifax on JAN.23, and arrived Harbour Grace on JAN.2? (difficult to read, on front). Interestingly there is a postmark on back dated JUN.2? (6 months later, or month error) which we cannot read the provenance. Opening faults, faults on the stamps, still a rare and short lived rate, and the first we have handled. (Image)
