Group of Used Imperforate Pence Issues, with a #1 (red cancel, tight to large margins), #2 (light oval grid, four margins) and #3 (two copies, both with oval grid cancels, one has four large margins, the other four average margins). Also includes an 1855 folded letter from River Dennis to the Honourable William Henry in Antigonish, franked with a fine bright blue 3d. Cover has faults and is accompanied by a 1988 APS certificate. 1860 Registered Cover, mailed Yarmouth on MAR.7.1860 (backstamp) to St John New Brunswick (receiver on front) through Digby (MAR.9 transit on back). Franked with a NS #2 and #5, paying the registration rate, both cancelled by an oval grid. The stamps both have four margins, both show part of adjoining stamp, and the 6d is cut into on one side. A scarce small cover, used at the end of the Pence period, and still enclosing a letter partly noting that there is £10 enclosed. Backflap tears, still very fine. Accompanied by a 2017 Greene Foundation certificate. (Image)

1851 1sh cold violet Heraldic Imperforate, used with light oval grid cancel and four large and well balanced margins. A remarkably lovely stamp, with fresh colour and extremely fine. Ex. Dale-Lichtenstein sale, where it sold for $2,400 at a time where its catalogue value was $750. Accompanied by a 2004 Greene Foundation certificate. 12½c black Queen Victoria on 1865 Cover to Ireland, mailed Weymouth NS on DEC.4.1865 (part backstamp) through Halifax DEC.7 (oval backstamp) and arrived in Dublin on DEC.15 (backstamp). Very slightly reduced at right, small backflap tears and stamp has been removed and replaced in a "very slightly different location" as per accompanying 2018 Greene Foundation certificate. (Image)
