Group of 265 Covers and Post Cards, 1910-1949, includes internal mail, mail to Canada, UK and the USA. The UK mail includes 7c, 14c, 30c and 60c air mail rate covers. Also note O.H.M.S. covers, a parcel tag with $11 in postage paid by blocks of 10 of the 1947 Cabot issue on each side, and lots of small post office datestamps on cover. Note Badger, Bell Island Mines, Cartyville, Dunnville, Gambo, Gloverton, Hammondfield, Jamestown, La Scie, Leading Tickles West, Lewisporte, Lushe's Bight, Mose Ambrose, Mosquito, Renews, St Mary's, Salvage, Seal Cove, Spruce Brook, Stephenville Crossing, Trinity East plus many more. Group of 32 Different First Flight Covers, 1921-1947, includes FF5 the 1921 Botwood to Strathroy flight, FF6 the 1921 Botwood to Halifax and FF6a the Botwood to Fogo flight. Also FF7, the 1921 Botwood to Halifax flight with C3 (2 short perfs), as well as FF24, the 1929 St John's to North Sydney flight and FF27 the Canada to St John's 1930 flight. We also note FF36b the 1933 Wabush-Katsao to St-John's flight, as well as 9 of the other flights cataloguing $20 to $45 each. Note the odd minor fault, still overall nice and clean and very fine. Group of 3 World War II Navy Sailor Covers to Harbour Grace, most likely from Newfoundlanders serving in the Royal Navy. After the outbreak of the War the Royal Navy was allowed by the Newfoundland Government to recruit for sailors in Newfoundland. All 3 covers with Naval censor handstamps and all to the St. Paul's Rectory. A scarce group, with minor stains on one cover and all with opening faults at top. (Image)

Group of 10 Covers with Newfoundland Postage Paid Handstamps, 1920-1944, includes PP5 (cat. $70) on a SEP.8.1920 local St John's cover and PP8 on 9 covers. All in blue but with a variety of sizes. The PP5 is very fine and the PP8s all have "From H.M.C.Ship..." censor handstamps with a variety of censor numbers or initials. 1896 Spoon Cove Broken Circle Postmark on Cover, mailed from Spoon Cove (Burin) on MAY.21.1896 to Halifax with MAY.29 receiver. 8d Scarlet Heraldic Bisect on an 1860 Folded Cover, mailed from St John's Newfoundland on MAR.28.1860 (datestamp on front in red) to Baltimore, with APR.9 Boston transit on front and endorsed "via Halifax". The outer cover is franked with a bisect of the 8d scarlet Heraldic imperforate, properly tied by an oval grid cancel. Vertical file fold not affecting stamp, very fine. Expert signature below the stamp, also accompanied by a 1979 B.P.A. (London) certificate. A scarce bisect usage. Rsv. $3,600. (Image)
