1898 BOISE-IDAHO REGISTERED to YUKON TERRITORY, a nice 3-color 21¢ Bureau franking pays the registered letter rate dated JUN27'1898, addressed to Klondike gold rush prospector Edward S. Smith at DAWSON-CITY-YT, arrived on APR7'1899 after 8 months in transit via SKAGWAY and the Chilkoot Pass, message on back signed by Edward Smith states the letter was “received the day he bought out his partner's claims”, Yukon Territory was established on JUN13'1898 and this is the earliest reported registered territorial cover, a bit of travel edge wear from the trip, F-VF ($550+ US) (Image)
