1935 Princess Elizabeth II Vignette Large Die Proof in Black, sunk-in on card measuring 201 x 152 mm, depicting the image that would appear on the issued stamp #211, engraved from an original photograph taken by Marcus Adams. The lower outer oval frameline contains the inscription "© C.B.N. CO." and there are the following inscriptions below the vignette:"H.R.H. PRINCESS ELIZABETH / BANK OF CANADA / X-V-125 / CANADIAN BANK NOTE CO. LTD.". This lot also includes a very fine glossy unused post card depicting the photograph used to create this stamp, issued by Tuck & Sons of London, from their Royal Portraits series. The photograph was taken by Marcus Adams (1875-1959), who took Royal photographs from 1926 to 1956. A great lot to accompany any serious Silver Jubilee issue collection. (Image)
