Extensive Collection of the 1917 3c Fathers of Confederation Stamp, housed in a thick binder containing: an unused (as issued), imperforate pair, accompanied with a 2003 Greene Foundation certificate, (Scott c.v. $800); 12 mint never hinged stamps, with one showing guide arrow at bottom left, and another showing plate number 943B in bottom selvedge (Scott c.v. $1,380); mint never hinged block of four (Scott c.v. $460); 5 vertical mint never hinged pairs with 4 showing plate numbers in bottom selvedge: Ottawa #3, 6, 943C, D, and the last pair showing guide arrow at bottom right, (Scott c.v. $1,150); 2 mint hinged stamps, (Scott c.v. $90). Total catalogue value aforementioned stamps is $3,880. The binder also includes postal history with roughly 80 covers organized by towns, noting advertising envelopes, registered mail, first flights, multiple frankings, a few overseas destinations such as France, England and Holland (cut down at the left side), and a new find with the earliest recorded duplex cancel for Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (December 15, 1917). We also note roughly 100 used stamps collected for postmarks, including: c.d.s. and duplex (Scott c.v. $225). The collection also contains 13 glassines with 100 used stamps in each (Scott c.v. $2,925 total). We note a few of the covers have toning faults, but otherwise a fine to very fine specialized collection which would cater to collectors and dealers alike. (Image)
