Group of 50 Québec and Maritimes Stampless Covers, includes both pre- and post- confederation material, with both stampless folded covers and stampless envelopes, with 23 from the province of Québec and 27 from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Good assortment of c.d.s. town datestamps, some manuscript and rate markings, as well as FREE handstamps. Note mourning covers, money letters, and a piece from the Vézina correspondence. Usual condition, with many having extra filing folds, creases and other odd faults, still mostly fine or better. (Image)

Group of 89 Ontario Stampless Covers and Folded Letters, 1831-1886, with a nice variety of datestamps, including Dec. 1859 West Huntingdon U.C, Jun. 1853 McKillop U.C (open 1836-59) and Jan. 1866 Harporhey (open 1855-67). Also a good assortment of manuscript and handstamp rate markings, registered and returned for postage handstamps. Usual mixed condition with some of the folded letters having extra file folds, one is a front only, a few envelopes with parts of back missing, etc, still overall fine with a good number very fine. 1857 Stampless Hotel Advertising Cover, mailed from Montreal on AUG.3.1857 to Indianapolis, Indiana through Windsor (AUG.5 backstamp), unusually rated both with "6" and a "CANADA 10" handstamps. The cover has a nice oval cameo Ottawa Hotel corner advertising corner card, and still has its neatly written 2 page letter to a sister, describing his trip to Montreal through Niagara Falls, etc. The cover has opening tears and creases, still fine and interesting. 1836 Stampless Folded Letter to England, with red double circle City of Toronto / UC dated NOV.1.1836, addressed to Canada House in London and endorsed manuscript "via New York". The letter is rated with a red "PAID 9 & 25" handstamp (9d to the lines and 25c to New York), with black boxed "PORTSMOUTH / SHIP LETTER" handstamp. very fine. (Image)

1853 Hudson's Bay House Cover to the Reverend Smithurst, mailed from London England on APR.22.1853 (endorsed "By Mail Steamer of 23 April") to the Reverend John Smithurst in Niagara CW, where it was received on MAY.7, and then forwarded to Elora CW where it arrived on MAY.9. The letter inside is a long 2-page one and discusses the improvements recently made in Canada, including the building of the Grand Trunk Railroad and investment of "a few hundreds of my own means" in it. The rest of the letter discusses financial affairs, etc. Very fine. (Image)

1849 Stampless Folded Printed Circular to Dublin, Forwarded to Barbados, mailed from Montréal on JUN.23.1849 to Dublin with JUL.11 receivers. The back also shows a B and E Crown cancel dated JUL.14. The folded printed circular (from City Bank) was then forwarded to Barbados, with an old spelling "Barbadoes" receiver dated AUG.7.1849. There are also three different manuscript rate markings on front, very fine. (Image)
