1867 Biographical Form Handwritten by Sir Charles Tupper, the empty form was originally mailed to Tupper by Henry Morgan in Ottawa on OCT.12.1867 with a note asking him to fill it out and send it back ASAP, specifically "at your earliest convenience". Tupper entered in the section "Name and style, or titles?" "Hon Dr. Tupper C.B." (as he was in between positions, as Nova Scotia had recently joined Canada) and went on to fill out much of the information in the rest of the folded three page form. At this point, he resided Halifax, NS. Tupper was Premier of Nova Scotia (1864- July 3, 1867) , Minister of Finance and Receiver General under Sir John A Macdonald (1887-1888) and the sixth Prime Minister of Canada from May to July 1896, and was succeeded by Wilfrid Laurier. In 1864 Tupper appointed Sandford Fleming, designer of Canada's first postage stamp, as the chief engineer of the Nova Scotia Railway in order to expand the line from Truro to Pictou landing. An important part of Canada's history, very fine. (Image)
