1856 CANADA 8d RATE to SCOTLAND, Pence issue #7 pays the 8d Stg British Packet rate on cover from Toronto on DEC15-1856 and addressed to Attorney Peter McLeod in Edinburgh, routing overland to Halifax on DEC 18th + Cunard "SS ARABIA" arriving at Liverpool on DEC 28th + express train to Edinburgh the next day, note an experimental yellow ink was used at Edinburgh that was quickly discontinued as it easily smeared onto other letters, the stamp has close cut margins on 3 sides otherwise it retails over $3000, good markings front and back with F-VF est ($400+US) (Image)
