1859 ST-CATHARINES-CE "OPENED in ERROR", unpaid cover from Quebec on OCT12-1859 and addressed to the Bailiff at St-Catharines with arrival on OCT 15th, the Bailiff had died and had not been replaced, the cover was endorsed "MISSENT" and "OPENED IN A MISTAKE" then forwarded back to a lawyer in Quebec, rated COLLECT 7¢ for the 5¢ postage + 2¢ collection fee, F-VF est ($75+ US) (Image)

1860 THICK PAPER #15iii (0.0045"), a fine early brick-red perf 11.75 x 11.75 on cover from Toronto-CW on AUG13-1860 with same day delivery to St-Catharines, thick paper stamps are recorded in 1867-1868 and this is the only report of an earlier thick paper use, sleeved and greatly under-priced 20 years ago at $200, a rarity on cover and currently the only pre-1867 example, F-VF est ($225+ US) (Image)

1865 IMPERFORATE+H26 SINGLE #15a, a VF 4-margin copy tied on cover by a SON G.W.R. SARNIA BRANCH WEST RPO (Gray #RY-81 1859-1875 RF-C2, Ludlow #RR-75), dated NOV9'1865 and addressed to Windsor-CW, the cancel shows the stamp was likely imperf prior to posting, it is the only cover reported and is a stamp rarity with no reported used examples, a VF mint stamp with no gum cat $20,000, the cover is reduced LHS and since the stamp is not a pair it will be sold as-is, F-VF est ($375+ US) (Image)
