Indecipherable small split circle handstamp dated 10 Aug in m/s, plus feint PAID handstamp and rated 4 ½ manuscript all in red on front (rate for under 60 miles). Unclear address, without capitals: “to the hon mr thomas baines secretary to the clergy corporation in taranto”, presumably sent the wrong way - over the border. LEWISTON N. Y. AUG 12 full circle handstamp in blue, where PAID and 4½ crossed through and endorsed, “Supposed to New Toronto U.C.”. Re-routed via QUEENSTON AU 12 1836 double ring handstamp in green.
