Recess by Nissen & Parker 1862: Recess 4 d. rose on greyish paper, an unused complete sheet of twelve subjects (3 x 4), of typically pale colour and large part or unmounted og. Note that there was no multiple of this stamp in the Baillie or Borromeo collections. 1883: De La Rue Appendix sheet headed "Nevis Postage Stamps / Existing and proposed Schemes of Colours" dated at top "Augt 1, 83" with, at left 1880 1 d. mauve and 2½ d. red-brown above 1882/83 4 d. blue and 6 d.green (yet to be issued) and marked "} Existing Colours"; with, alongside proposals for new colours with four perforated Trials without Country name or Duty Plate in rose ('1d.'), blue ('2½d.') with "} Proposed colours, being those established by the International Postal Convention for these two duties" and in grey ('4d.') and chestnut ('6d.') with "} Proposed colours". Provisional Surcharge 1883 (Sept 4): Surcharged "NEVIS ½ d." in black on vertically bisected 1 d. lilac-mauve, a single example and a vertical strip of four, right halves, all used on 1883 cover to Basseterre, the lower pair of the strip showing variety "Surcharge Tête-Bêche" with upper stamp showing surcharge reading up and lower stamp with surcharge reading down, lightly cancelled by five strikes of the "A09" obliterator leaving the surcharges clear.
