1893 (Aug 9) 1d on 1½d Reply card addressed to Germany with attached reply card, both halves cancelled by "SHIP LETTER / NASSAU" c.d.s with a further strike below (Proud SL3, earliest recorded date), outward half with minor staining, very scarce. Photo on Page 130. (Image1)

1901 King Edward VII essay in the adopted design superbly handpainted in black, brown and Chinese white with a central photographic vignette of the Kings head, a printed Crown applied above this, handpainted perforations, the shell design at right handpainted on a separate piece of paper and applied to the essay, blank value tablet, mounted with a thick card surround dated "OCT 4, 1901". A pencil cross alongside the right shell design, endorsed "shell & ellipse only" and "Shell defective. Designs of Conch shell forwarded". A superb and unique essay from the De La Rue archives.
