The letter, which is to a Gouveneur Kemble at the West Point Foundery in Cold Springs, N.Y., concerns "Mr. Monroe's affairs". Kemble was a two-term U.S. Congressman and industrialist; the West Point Foundry would become a major producer of artillery during the American Civil War. (Image)
