"Patrick" Balance of U.S. Navy Autographs & Images, 90 nineteenth-century autographs of important U.S. Navy personages, predominantly those who rose to the Rank of Admiral, with an emphasis on the Civil War era; mainly official documents signed by Commanding Officers, Bureau Chiefs, and 14 different Secretaries of the Navy from 1821-1891; there are even a few Autograph Letters Signed including, among others, Commodore Isaac Bailey (Sep 1861) and Daniel Henshaw as Secretary of the Navy (Nov 1859); the vast majority also include a typed exhibit page with a short biography and a modern reproduction of a nineteenth century photograph. Additionally, there are about 35 additional images of nineteenth century Naval dignitaries or events - primarily engravings, newspaper cutouts and even an original Carte de Visite photo of Admiral Milton Haxton.
