KOREAN WAR: 1953 cover to South Korean soldier "Pak Ki Sok, 23 RO Regt, AP 248, SP 84 138 TOE, Battalion French" serving with the French Volunteers, South Korea 500w Tombstone pair tied by local cancel and also by censor chop in violet, French 'POSTES AUX ARMEES/2-4/1953/T.O.E.' [= Théatre des Opérations Extérieures] b/s, a couple of very minor blemishes. The French Battalion was attached to the US 23rd Infantry Regiment and comprised around 3,000 troops; mail to the French troops is scarce, all the more so to a local volunteer serving with them. The Korean War Armistice was signed on 27.07.1953.
