NEPAL. Mi.24, 54. 1944 (Sept.). TATAPANI to KATHMANDU. Registered cover bearing a mixed franking of the 1907 issue 16 pice and the local 1941 issue 8 pice. TAILANDIA. Sg.419, 421. 1929. CHIENGMAI to U.S.A. Envelope written from ´The Prince Royal College, Chiengmai, Siam, addresed to WASHINGTON D.C. bearing Great Britain 1 d. scarlet and 2 d. orange tied by KENG TUNG double ring, stamps deemed invalid and outlined with blue crayon with T/50 c. applied in Burma and NEW YORK/DUE 10 CENTS, duplex applied in transit. Very fine item from the Siamese/Burma border as Keng Tung was under British and at other times Siamese depending on the border conflicts in the region. Kengtung is presently in the Eastern Shan State of Burma though historically it was closely tied to the Lanna Kingdom of Northern Thailnd. Very interesting item. (Image1)
