1926? Cover from Lhasa to Patan Nepal, mailed to Gyantse, either privately or as part of a package of mail, where it was franked with a ½s green KGV, cancelled by a Gyantse c.d.s. (Type IV) dated MAY.5 year barely legible. There is a partial Nepal receiver and a very fine strike of a British Embassy (Katmandu) oval handstamp. The cover bears the Dhakwa family trader's mark (small pennant, or flag), who were one of the most important Nepalese trading families operating in Tibet. Very fine and attractive. (Image)

1925 Combination Cover, from Shigatse to Calcutta, via Gyantse, franked with a 1/6 Trangka (shiny) which does not resemble Methuen's olive green, apple green or yellow green, it is much closer to, and consistent with the bottle green, listed by Waterfall as having had "a very small printing in 1925". Waterfall only records usage from Lhasa though most printings were send to the 4 main post offices at Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse and Phari. Combination covers during this period are quite scarce. The stamp is tied by a poor strike of Shigatse Type XI Native Fret, indistinct Gyantse Type B-4 and Calcutta receiver. Unusual forwarding handstamp reads "P.O. Gantse (Tibet)". Very fine and rare.
