1940 (May 9) Bank of Japan registered parcel label to London via America with 4s tied by 'TOKYO/9.5.40' cds & other stamps washed-off, two strikes of straight-line 'SALVED FROM THE SEA' cachets in violet, Liverpool registration label added when re-posted, minor creasing & staining. [Most likely salvaged from the wreck of SS 'Eros' which was torpedoed 5 miles off Tory Island, Ireland by the U-Boat UB-48 on 7.6.1940]
