The same foreign style wove paper used for the earlier 1932-37 Peking Martyrs was used for all early and middle stage prints of the new Peking issue. The next paper utilised was newsprint, followed by white, yellowish and native soft paper. This stamp represents the earliest printing of the New Peking $20, which was the last basic New Peking denomination issued.

"Russian Philatelic Exhibition" envelope bearing 1941 Thrift Movement set of six cancelled by Exhibition commemorative cancellation, locally addressed to an Austrian-Jewish Shanghai resident. The envelope was in all likelihood never mailed, as the Thrift Movement stamps were not permitted to be used in Shanghai, given the Movement's implicitly anti-Japanese sentiments.
